This is a pretty simple basketball play, but the reason it works well is because of setting good screens and timing. Setting good screens is usually the difference between a good offense and a poor one. If your big man is one of your best players this is a good play to get him/her a touch on the block. It is your job as the basketball coach to make sure that your team is executing the plays at a high level, and paying attention to the details.
Play Name: Utah Jazz: Cross Screen Basketball Play (07-08)
Similar Plays: Duke: Post Flash Cross Screen Basketball Play, Chicago Bulls: Cross Screen/Down Screen Basketball Play, Seffner Christian: Cross Screen/Down Screen Basketball Play
Play Goal: Get your big man a touch on the block and let them go to work.
Play Tips: The man setting the screen needs to make sure that they get a piece of the defender’s big man to free him up. The big man needs to try and catch the ball as close to the basket as he can, let the screen come to him before cutting.
