Almost anytime in a basketball play when you screen the post man’s defender before he goes to set a ball screen it is good action. The reason why is because the post man’s defender is now a step behind the action. This means that he/she will be late on the help for the ball screen action, giving the offense an advantage. It is important that the screener sprints to the ball screen, and that the ball handler sets his/her defender up to come off the ball screen at the right time.
